Adam Barnes
Managing Director
Adam founded Roemer Barnes in 2020, following 15 years of diverse experience within the further education sector. His roles have spanned training, operational delivery, and business development, giving him a unique perspective on what makes training organisations successful.
Adam takes a holistic approach to sustainable business growth. As well as focusing on high-quality provision and client engagement, his well-honed bid-writing skills help providers secure valuable contracts that match their vision and values. In 2021-22 alone, Adam won clients more than £2.5 million of funding contracts through successful bids.
When he’s not collaborating with clients, Adam enjoys drinking rum, home brewing, and firing up the barbecue. He speaks enough German to get by at any beer hall, and has shared his home with five dogs, three cats, and two giant African land snails over the last few years.
Jonathan Bibby
Director
With 25 years of sales success behind him, Jonathan has perfected the art of engaging and retaining clients. Today he helps training providers and awarding organisations win new business through carefully tailored engagement strategies. His collaborative and consultative approach to sales means clients can build trust and long-term partnerships with their ideal prospects.
Quick to spot lucrative business opportunities, Jonathan has an impressive record of successful product launches into new markets. Focusing on sustainable growth, he helps clients build on their existing strengths to reach fresh audiences.
As well as partnering with providers, Jonathan is Roemer Barnes’ Apprenticeship Levy expert, and he supports employers to get the best possible return on their investment.
Jonathan is a proud Liverpool FC season ticket holder and father of three (not necessarily in that order). His extra-curriculars are just as impressive as his career history, and he’s an FA qualified football coach, a former lead singer and guitarist, and a fluent Italian speaker.
Emma Shipstone
Associate Consultant
Driven by the belief that education has the power to transform lives, Emma brings clients more than 28 years’ worth of insights from within the further education sector. With a series of senior leadership roles under her belt, she’s been responsible for the growth of multiple training providers across a variety of funding streams.
Emma has delivered performance-focused frameworks for both public and private sector organisations, effectively engaging internal as well as external stakeholders. She’s passionate about collaborating with industry partners to raise standards of education for all, and is skilled at designing and implementing robust improvement cycles.
